GREENVILLE, S.C. – Tim Lovin, a 33-year veteran of the construction industry, has been named president of THS Constructors, Inc., a Greenville-based general contractor with offices in Sanford, N.C.; Charleston, S.C.; and Atlanta, Ga.

In his new position Lovin is responsible for the overall direction of the company, including operations, preconstruction, sales and marketing.  He had served as executive vice president of the firm prior to his promotion.

During his career, Lovin has maintained his base in the two Carolinas and has been involved in designing and building a wide range of commercial and industrial projects in both states.  He is a 1977 graduate of North Carolina State University, where he graduated with honors, receiving a bachelor of science in civil engineering – construction option.                               

The service area for THS Constructors includes North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Virginia. The company provides design-build, design-bid-build, and construction management services for clients in the industrial, distribution, health care, office, research and development, institutional and retail markets.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Shane Bolding, vice president of business development for THS Constructors, Inc., has been named 2010 chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors Upstate Council based in Greenville.

He is leading the Council’s effort to promote ABC and its mission and to expand the organization’s membership in the Upstate.  Bolding is serving a one-year term.

A 17-year veteran of the construction industry, Bolding is a principal with THS Constructors, a Greenville-based general contractor that pursues work in markets such as industrial, distribution, healthcare, and research and development.

ABC is a national trade association representing 25,000 merit shop contractors, material suppliers and related firms. It is the construction industry’s voice with federal, state and local governments. Virginia

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, Inc., a Greenville-based general contractor and design-build firm, has expanded its service area to include the state of Virginia.

The Virginia Board for Contractors has authorized the firm to provide general contracting, design-build and construction management services in the state’s 95 counties.  Now that it has a contractor’s license to operate in Virginia, THS Constructors is pursuing projects across the state in core markets such as industrial, distribution, commercial, office buildings, institutional and healthcare.

 “Our philosophy is to follow our clients wherever they go, and in this case, a client decided to locate a facility in Virginia,” said Tony Warren, principal in charge of operations.

THS Constructors operates in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, but much of its activity has centered on the Upstate, where it has ongoing or completed projects for Greenville Hospital System, TIC Properties, Clear Channel Communications, The Banker’s Exchange, Johnson Controls, Timken, and Eurokera North America.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, Inc., a Greenville-based general contractor and design-build company, has renovated space for two clients, TIC Properties and Clear Channel Radio, and is upfitting space for a third client, The Banker’s Exchange, in the Bank of America building in downtown Greenville. TIC Properties is the property manager for the building.

The project for TIC Properties included approximately 4,500 square feet of executive offices, common work areas, break rooms and the lobby, all on the 12th floor. It was finished on time and within budget.

THS Constructors renovated Clear Channel Radio’s regional headquarters, a project covering 25,300 square feet on the 10th and 11th floors.  The new area is being used by radio stations WMYI, WSSL, WESC and WBZT for broadcast studios, production, sales and administration. The job was completed within a 10-week timeframe.

The project for The Banker’s Exchange encompasses 5,000 square feet of offices, work areas, break rooms and the lobby on the 2nd floor.  It has an eight-week schedule.

All three projects include demolition of existing areas; upfits to the mechanical electrical and fire protection systems; and finish work such as carpeting, paint, millwork and ceiling tiles. In addition, the projects have been executed in phases to minimize disruptions to the clients’ ongoing operations.

TIC Properties is a repeat client. THS Constructors also provided design-build services for the expansion of the FedEx Ground distribution center just off Interstate 85 in Greenville.  That facility is managed by TIC Properties on behalf of a tenant-in-common ownership.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, Inc., a Greenville-based general contractor and design-build company, has retrofitted approximately 8,000 square feet of space at Eurokera North America’s headquarters in the SouthChase Industrial Park near Fountain Inn.

The 10-week project included the addition of a Class 100,000 clean room and the renovation of the plant’s offices. Among the services THS Constructors provided were estimating, scheduling, procurement, project control and quality control.  The renovation portion of the project required the demolition of existing office space.  Prior to startup, THS Constructors led a value engineering effort that brought costs in line with the client’s budget.

Eurokera is an international manufacturer of glass ceramic products for the home appliance market, including ranges, cooktops, stove windows, and glass doors for fireplaces.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, Inc., a Greenville-based general contractor and design-build company, has named Dean Shawron project manager.

He has 25 years of experience in the construction industry, having served as project engineer, assistant project manager and project manager on a variety of jobs such as the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida; an administrative complex for MCI in Cary, N.C.; the Seminole Tribe Hardrock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, Fla.; and the UNC School of Law in Chapel Hill, N.C. In addition, his background includes shopping malls, office buildings and parking decks.

Shawron earned a bachelor of science degree in construction management from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, a Greenville-based general contractor, has begun design and construction on an expansion of the FedEx Ground facility just off Interstate 85 in Greenville. 

The facility is managed by TIC Properties LLC of Greenville on behalf of the tenant-in-common ownership and is leased to FedEx Ground, which uses it for sorting, conveying and shipping packages.

The scope of work includes extensive site work as well as the relocation of underground utilities and stormwater retention areas.  The schedule is critical; delivering the facility within the 5˝ month timeframe will allow FedEx Ground to install sorting and conveying equipment by the target date required in its business expansion plans.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, a Greenville-based general contractor and design-build firm, has begun work on a multimillion-dollar expansion for Johnson Controls at its West Union, S.C., facility that includes modifications to the existing structure to accommodate a new power grid manufacturing line and an innovative design for an addition that takes into account severe changes in the site elevation.

Besides site development, the scope of work for the addition encompasses building construction, extensive foundations and retaining walls, as well as electrical and underground mechanical systems. 

Among the services that THS Constructors is providing are estimating, value engineering, scheduling, permitting and procurement.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, a Greenville-based general contractor, has begun work on a design-build project for Moog Components Group that calls for expanding its Murphy, N.C., facility by 65,000 square feet to be used for assembly operations, warehousing and utilities.

The scope of work encompasses site utilities, electrical and HVAC work, as well as the construction of a large mezzanine. The expanded structure will feature a steel frame covered by metal panels and a membrane roof.

THS Constructors is working closely with Moog to provide a detailed options analysis on a broad range of building systems and utilities. Moog will select the options that best meet its budget requirements. The goal of this extensive value engineering effort is to generate a 10 percent savings in project cost.

Besides value engineering, THS Constructors is providing services such as estimating, scheduling, permitting and procurement.  The project should be finished in eight months.

In addition to the expansion, THS Constructors is designing and building a 12,000-square-foot office that features a mezzanine.

Moog Components Group designs and manufactures electrical slip rings and fiber optic rotary joints, brushless D.C. motors, and electromagnetic actuators for the aerospace, industrial and medical markets.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Five construction industry veterans have joined Howard Suitt to form the management team for THS Constructors, Inc., a general contractor and design-build firm serving clients in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia.

In addition to Howard Suitt, the other principals include John Cronin, Tony Warren, Shane Bolding, Ron Thomas and Tony Masters.  All are former associates at Suitt Construction Company.

In his position as president, Howard Suitt is responsible for the overall direction of the company. A longtime veteran of the construction industry, he has been involved in more than 2,000 projects representing a total installed cost exceeding $12 billion.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The Citadel.

John Cronin is the chief financial officer and is responsible for budgets, financial statements, forecasts and tax reporting. He has worked in the construction business for 30 years. He earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from Mississippi State University.

Shane Bolding has been appointed director of business development and is responsible for sales and marketing. He has worked in business development, project management and engineering for 14 years, serving industrial and commercial clients. He earned a degree in ceramic engineering from Clemson University.

Ron Thomas is director of construction.  He manages all phases of the building process from project development and estimating through construction and owner occupancy. He serves as the primary liaison among the owner, architect, subcontractors and THS Constructors.  He earned a B.S. degree in science construction engineering technology from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Tony Masters, a 30-year construction industry veteran, has been named director of purchasing.  His duties include procuring equipment and materials, analyzing the qualifications of subcontractors, administering awards to subcontractors, and assisting in the estimating phase as a member of the preconstruction team. He is a Certified Purchasing Professional and holds a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – THS Constructors, Inc., a Greenville-based general contractor and design-build company, has added a project manager, four superintendents and an administrative assistant to its staff.

Bob Bartholomew has been named project manager.  He has 30 years of experience in engineering, construction, design-build and construction management and has in-depth knowledge of construction practices in the commercial, industrial and institutional markets. He earned a bachelor of science degree in building design from Kansas State College.

Bo Hensley, a veteran of three decades in the construction industry, has been appointed superintendent.  His recent projects include Johnson Controls in West Union, and Berea High School and Cherrydale Elementary School in Greenville. Also, he provided field supervision for the NBSC headquarters in downtown Greenville.

Superintendent Dan Atkins has 23 years of experience in commercial, industrial and institutional construction.  He has been responsible for supervising projects in the Upstate for clients such as Timken, Bi-Lo, BASF, Milliken and Greenville Hospital System.

In his 20 years in the construction industry, Alan Scruton has progressed through the ranks to become a superintendent. He has been in charge of field operations on a variety of industrial, commercial and institutional projects, including Draexlmaier in Duncan, Timken in Walhalla, the new Southside High School in Greenville and Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Easley.

Superintendent Shawn Thompson has been responsible for projects for clients such as Moog in Murphy, N.C., Bridgestone-Firestone in Graniteville, Kemet Electronics in Simpsonville, Piedmont Natural Gas in Spartanburg and Bi-Lo in Mauldin.  In addition, he has supervised projects for churches, correctional institutions and shopping centers.

In her role as administrative assistant, Lena Swanger is responsible for office management, proposal coordination and document control.  She has served in a variety of administrative capacities in the construction industry in the last 10 years.

The general contractor and design-build company is pursuing projects in a broad range of markets, including manufacturing, distribution, commercial development, office, research and development, institutional and health care.

Initially THS Constructors is concentrating its efforts in South Carolina, Western North Carolina, Charlotte, northern Georgia and Atlanta.
