THE CITADEL AWARDS CONSTRUCTION OF NEW BUSINESS SCHOOL TO THS CONSTRUCTORS

GREENVILLE, S.C. – (March 7, 2019) – THS Constructors, Inc., one of the Southeast’s leading design-build, construction management, and general contracting companies, today announced it was selected by The Citadel for the construction of Bastin Hall, home to the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business.  The new 45,000 square foot facility will be the newest addition to The Citadel’s campus and will be located on Hagood Avenue between the corners of Congress and Huger.

Once complete, Bastin Hall will house 11 new classrooms, 7 breakout rooms, 40 offices, an advising center, an entrepreneurship-innovation Lab, the Bastin Financial Services Lab, large common area on the first floor, two plaza event spaces, and a roof-top terrace on the third floor.

“We are excited about the opportunity to help The Citadel grow for the future.  Bastin Hall will become a key part of the campus and will serve the cadets and graduates in many capacities.  I, personally, am proud to have a hand in assisting my alma mater achieve their goals for future generations,” said THS Chairman Howard Suitt, who is also a 1948 graduate of The Citadel.

Bastin Hall will enable the Baker School of Business to meet the needs of future entrepreneurs, and business leaders by providing facilities that will supplement academic coursework with practical and experiential learning. Bastin Hall will not only serve as a student facility but will also house community events and Alumni gatherings.  Bastin Hall is the first newly designed building on The Citadel campus since the 1970’s.

Project partners for the project include Liollio Architects, ADC Engineering, DWG, Inc. Consulting Engineers, and 4SE, Inc. Structural Engineers.  The expected completion date for the construction is Summer of 2020.

Founded in 1842, The Citadel has an undergraduate student body of about 2,300 students who make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Another 1,000 students attend The Citadel Graduate College, a civilian evening and online program that offers graduate and professional degrees as well as undergraduate programs.  The Citadel draws students from about 45 states across the United States as well as a dozen countries.

In 2018, The Citadel was named the #1 Public College in the South for institutions granting up to a master’s degree (U.S. New & World Report) for the 8th year in a row.
