THS Constructors, Inc, one of the Southeast’s leading design-build construction firms, was recently awarded the contract for the City of Orangeburg’s new DPU Operations Center.
The new operations center will replace the current facility and will be located on the same site. The project, totaling 63,475 sf, consists to two buildings located on the 24-acre site. The first building is a 36,000 sf crew building that will have precast structural steel framing and a standing seam metal roof. The second building will be a 27,475 sf metal building for parking and storage for the City of Orangeburg.
The Department of Public Utilities is a wholly owned enterprise of the City of Orangeburg. The DPU sells retail electricity, natural gas, water, and wastewater services to the greater Orangeburg area. They employ a staff of approximately 180 full-time employees.
THS also recently completed construction of the new Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Wellness Complex for Claflin University in Orangeburg.
The design-bid team includes MCA Architecture, Dangerfield Engineering, Arrowood & Arrowood, Mechanical Engineering Consulting Associates, Inc., and eti Engineering, LLC.
